But don’t worry! We’ve tested and reviewed many Chromebooks so you don’t have to spend hours searching, and we’re here to share with you the best Chromebooks under $200 in 2021.
Remember that prices are constantly changing, so check them yourself.
So let’s not waste time, and check out the best Chromebooks under $200 below for 2021! We’ll start by listing them all, in case you don’t want to go through the detailed reviews below and just want to do it quickly!
Note to self: We receive commissions for purchases made through the links in this article.
Now let’s dig a little deeper and see what each of them has to offer in terms of performance and quality!
The cheapest Chromebook on our list has specs that can easily compete with the slightly more expensive products below. Overall, this makes the Lenovo 3 a very solid choice in the budget Chromebook category.
This model is powered by a solid processor, the AMD A6-9220C processor, which has a base frequency of 1.80 GHz, but can go up to 2.7 GHz. It’s not the Intel we’re used to, but it’s a very solid processor.
Combine 4GB of RAM and 32GB of super-fast eMMC storage, and you have a great combination that will please you with its performance and budget.
We tested it with Spotify running in the background and 8 tabs open in Chrome, and it still works fine, with no noticeable lag.
What makes this model special is that it has multiple ports for advanced connectivity, including 2 USB-C ports. This means you can connect more advanced peripherals to it, which is always a bonus.
To be fair, the laptop is small and quite unique in design, but it’s not bad either. It has an 11.6-inch screen with HD resolution only (but all models on the list have that). In fact, the resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels on such a small screen is not that bad and you can still enjoy solid picture quality.
It also has an SD card reader and a security slot. The battery lasts about 6-7 hours once charged (but this varies greatly depending on use). Overall, this is the best choice if your budget is extremely limited and even a few dollars make a difference.

HP Chromebook 14 – Editor’s Choice
Our top pick for Chromebooks under $200 is the HP model, mainly because of its larger screen size. At 14″, this is the largest screen on our list and a bigger screen is always better in our opinion.
So if you want a bigger screen – 14″ is the best choice in our case if you want to buy a cheap Chromebook.
It still doesn’t offer Full HD resolution, only HD resolution (1366 x 768px), but at least the screen is anti-reflective, so you get better picture quality even in more difficult lighting conditions. The screen isn’t bad either, offering solid picture quality with decent colors.
But you also get a slightly higher processor, the AMD dual-core a4-9120 processor, which runs at a base frequency of 2.2 GHz but can go up to 2.5 GHz. It’s a small improvement in terms of speed, but everything else is better.
Moreover, the other specifications are identical to those of the other models on our list: 4 GB RAM and 32 GB eMMC storage. We can consider this the norm for our small budget.
It’s very nice and slim, with that grey chassis plate that I think really makes a difference, and offers about 9 hours on a single charge. It’s rugged and looks good, perfect for those who want a quality but affordable Chromebook.
It also has a decent and modern array of ports, including 2 USB-C slots, 2 normal USBs and an SD card reader.

The next product on our list of the best Chromebooks under $200 is a device from Asus that has personality! A red design that stands out and makes it different. Sometimes that’s all you want!
And it’s a good thing we have the color to feel otherwise, because in terms of specs, it’s not that impressive because it’s an older model: It features an Intel Celeron N3350 processor (2.4 GHz), 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC memory.
It’s also an 11.6-inch Chromebook, which means it doesn’t have a large screen area and it’s still not Full HD resolution, but it serves its purpose and looks very, very good.
The main reason it didn’t get the Top Choice award is that some customers on Amazon complain that it’s not very sturdy. We haven’t had any problems with it yet, but we haven’t used it in a few months, so we can’t really judge.
But Asus is a really solid manufacturer with quality products everywhere, so we take complaints with a grain of salt. But ultimately, it’s up to you to decide if you want to take the risk or not. There are some other great options on our list today if you don’t want a sparkly red Chromebook here!

Samsung Chromebook 4
If you’re looking for a well-known brand, we have a Samsung device that won’t disappoint. Their Chromebooks are among the most popular on the market and receive excellent reviews from users and experts alike. So you can rest assured that you are getting a product that has been thoroughly tested and improved over the years to provide the best experience at the lowest possible price.
This model, which is actually an older model, comes with 4 GB of RAM and is powered by a dual-core Intel Celeron N4000 processor with a base speed of 1.1 GHz, but can go up to 2.6 GHz with turbocharging.
They are certainly not insane performance, but the job gets done and you will be able to enjoy generally smooth and enjoyable performance when browsing the web, streaming movies, etc. You have no reason to complain!
It also has decent memory when it comes to Chromebooks : 32GB of fast eMMC memory and a media card reader, so you can expand storage with an SD card if you need more.
Its small size makes it very thin, light and portable: 11.6-inch screen, 0.66 inches thick, 2.6 pounds weight.
The big drawback is that it only has one USB port. If you are using an external mouse, all the ports are already taken. Not perfect.
It doesn’t have Full HD resolution, but HD resolution (1366 x 768 pixels), but on such a small screen you don’t feel the difference. You’ll appreciate that the battery lasts up to 12 hours on a single charge.
Overall, this Chromebook from Samsung is backed by rave reviews and increased popularity thanks to the brand. So if you prefer an established brand, this is a purchase you should make.

Can you get a good Chromebook for less than $200?
A few years ago, when I first wrote this article, you had a choice of very good models, some of which performed surprisingly well.
Unfortunately, prices have risen over the years, and it’s now safe to say that Chromebooks under $200 are a bit outdated. They don’t offer much in terms of performance or physical memory, but you can still run them if your expectations aren’t very high.
Finally, $200 is not much for a laptop. Even the phones are usually more expensive than these, so you can’t expect them to be out of line.
Our recommendation would be to consider a slight increase in the budget. Where possible, we’ve compiled a list of the best Chromebooks you can buy. They cost over $200 (but some don’t cost that much), but are much better.
But if the budget is really tight, one of our recommendations above is also good.
While we don’t have a huge selection, if you have a very low budget – even though we’re talking about Chromebooks – you still have a good choice. And it’s nice to see that – compared to last year’s offering – we also have a bigger screen in our budget.
In addition, total storage has doubled from last year (when most Chromebooks in this price range offered only 16GB), while processors are also better. Beautiful improvements after all – and one of the above products will surely make you happy.
So in 2021, these are our recommended Chromebooks under $200. Just choose your favorite from our list and I am sure you will be very happy with the product you receive!
